Korean Grilled Steak (Bulgogi Style)

Description:

Bulgogi may sound exotic to some but it is slowly becoming a household word in big cities.  The ingredients of the marinade reflect a principle of Korean cooking: the harmonization of the essential flavors of sweet and salty.  Grill outside or broil in the oven – 15-17 minutes.

 

Preparation:  Thaw completely.  If frozen or partially frozen, defrost in microwave before cooking.

 

Cooking Instructions:  Grill:  Preheat grill.  Remove steak from bag, discarding bag, and cook steak on grill until medium-rare (140F on instant read thermometer), turning after the first 10 minutes. Broiler: Preheat broiler.  Place flank steak on broiler pan, 8-10 inches from broiler.  Cook steak 10 minutes on first side.  Flip over and cook another 7 minutes until charred on the edges.  Let meat rest 5 minutes before cutting against the grain into thin slices.  For tender juicy meat, cook only to medium-rare and slice very thin. Cooking times may vary due to differences in ovens or grills.
